Electronically Controlled Transmission - Volvo Truck

TECU (Transmission Electronic Control Unit)

  1. Solenoid valve block
  2. Air supply, from chassis air supply
  3. Air distribution to CVU
  4. Gear shifting mechanism
  5. Connector for vehicle electronics
  6. Connector for CVU

TECU berfungsi untuk :

  • Monitors internal and external sensors
  • Determines which gear to engage
  • Controls solenoid valves
  • Controls pneumatic actuators

Actuators

  1. Shift actuator (engaging sleeve for the split gear)
  2. Shift actuator (engaging sleeve for the third and second basic gears)
  3. Shift actuator (engaging sleeve for the first basic and reverse gears)
  4. Shift actuator (engaging sleeve for the range gear)

Actuator (1) mengontrol pergerakan shift forks untuk split gear. Actuators (2)(3) mengontrol pergerakan tiga basic gear dan  actuator (4) mengontrol range gear. Semua actuator memiliki tiga posisi cylinder kecuali range gear hanya dua posisi (low dan high). Masing-masing cylinder berada pada posisi neutral dengan mengaktifkan dua solenoid valve secara bersamaan

Solenoid Valve

  • B Solenoid valve (countershaft brake (VAGB))
  • HS Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the high split gear (Direct drive) (VADS)) atau (LS in overdrive gearbox)
  • LS Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the low split gear (Direct drive) (VAIDS)) atau (HS in overdrive gearbox)
  • 3 Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the third basic gear (VAG3))
  • R Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the reverse gear (VAGR))
  • 2 Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the second basic gear (VAG2N))
  • LR Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the low range gear (VALR))
  • HR Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the high range gear (VAHR))
  • 1 Solenoid valve (engaging sleeve for the first basic gear (VAG1))

TECU mengontrol solenoid valve. Masing-masing dua solenoid valve mengontrol engaging sleeve untuk split gear, tiga basic gear dan range gear. Solenoid valve (B) mengontrol countershaft brake (spring loaded). Semua engaging sleeve kecuali pada range gear didesain untuk tiga posisi yang berbeda, dimana posisi tengah (middle position) untuk neutral.

Sensor

TECU terintegrasi dengan inclination sensor dan compressed air pressure sensor.

  1. Integrated oil temperature sensor
  2. Position sensor (range gear actuator)
  3. Speed sensor (countershaft speed (second basic gear))
  4. Speed sensor (main shaft speed (sensor wheel, main shaft))
  5. Position sensor (actuator for the engaging sleeve, split gear)
  6. Position sensor (actuator for the engaging sleeve, first basic and reverse gears)
  7. Position sensor (actuator for the engaging sleeve, third and second basic gears)

Countershaft Brake

Countershaft brake berada pada bagian ujung depan countershaft extension dan berfungsi untuk mensinkronisasi bagian yang berputar pada gearbox dalam kondisi berikut ini :

  • While shifting the gear up
  • While selecting start gear
  • While activating the PTO (optional)


  1. Countershaft brake housing
  2. Spring
  3. Piston
  4. Disc set

Countershaft brake memiliki cylinder dengan multi-disc brake (friction discs dan steel discs) yang dioperasikan secara pneumatically oleh solenoid valve.
